I have to admit that I did not expect to be too impressed by the Grand Canyon. Years of practice ignoring hype has trained me to give little weight to public obsessions and fads. Well, the Grand Canyon is no fad—and I learned very quickly that there are things that are even more amazing than they are hyped up to be.

As soon as I got my first glimpse of the Grand Canyon, I was overwhelmed with goose bumps over my entire body. The immensity of the Grand Canyon cannot be captured in words or even photos; certainly, I’ve seen photos for years, and none of them gave justice to this natural wonder of the world. After I got home and saw all of my photos, I learned that mine too were lacking—the scope of the Grand Canyon is so huge that all sense of perspective is lost in photos. You simply have to go there to understand the value of this unique landmark out in Arizona.

I didn’t spend enough time to get as many photos as I wanted, but not to worry. I’ll get back out there sometime.
